I'm Jimmy Marks
A Senior UX Designer, Front-End Developer, Researcher and Content Specialist living in Richmond, Virginia.
Some of my recent work
CNB Texas
The good people at Community National Bank in Texas hadn't had a full redesign in many years. I worked with our great development team and my co-designer, Summer Brow, to not only build a great new website, but to fill it with copy and content that informs, delights, and (most importantly) sells new services and drives new leads.

Patel Lab
The wonderful team at the Patel Lab in Massachusetts wanted a new website to highlight the great work they do studying butterfly wing patterns and color as it impacts nature. I worked to create a custom template that they could use to more easily display slideshows, movies, and experiments, as well as highlight their excellent and friendly staff.

Allied Payment Network
I worked with the team at Allied Payment Network and my colleagues at Trabian to rethink the APN website. We reworked the data flow to focus prospective clients on the products and services and to build out spaces where future developments and case studies might go on their site.

RiverBank
Riverbank came to us in search of a new look for their long-since outdated website. Right away, Summer Brow (Senior Designer) and I (Senior UX Designer) saw several avenues for improvement.
Fortunately, the client had just undergone a significant rebrand and had plenty of material to draw from for new colors, styles, graphics, etc.

Trabian.com
Anyone who's ever built websites professionally knows the old saying: the shoemaker's children often go barefoot. When you spend your time building sites for others, you often neglect your own. My colleague Summer Brow and I jumped at the chance to re-work the Trabian website from the ground up: moving the current information to Drupal, harmonizing the brand values and the visual identity of the site, and working the copy down to the last letter. What resulted was a site with a much more focused view of the brand as it stands.

Creating and Implementing Design Systems
One area of my career where I have had an abundance of experience is in the design, curation and upkeep of pattern libraries and design frameworks.
Federal and State Agencies
I worked on the CGI Federal Design Library alongside Joseph Habib, an excellent UX and Design Researcher. Together, we created styleguides and wrote guidelines for the various design elements and their intended use in Federal Projects.
Science Magazine
Alongside my contemporaries in the Digital Media Web Technologies division, I worked on the implementation of the Pattern Lab for Science Magazine, much of which is still in use in some iteration today. Using the design library we created meant that we could create more cohesive, consistent interfaces across the entire portfolio of websites.
Awards and Recognitions
Winner of the STAR Award, an award given by colleagues to acknowledge an individual team member's contributions to a project (CGI)
Winner of the award for "Purpose and Play," in acknowledgement of my enthusiasm and good work and for my contributions to the company culture (Trabian)
Don't take my word for it...
"Jimmy is representative of the best that young professionals can bring to the work place..."
Sarah Snell Cooke
Cooke Consulting Solutions
"Thanks for everything. You all were great to work with and we appreciate the timely, competent expertise you offered RiverBank over each step of the way. "
